Distracted by shiny objects? It’s time to find your flow

Are you susceptible to shiny object syndrome?

A client asks you to take on a project that’s not really aligned with what you do. But hey it sounds interesting and the money is good so…

Or maybe a colleague invites you to collaborate. She’s got this project that could really do with your skills and experience. It’s so flattering to be asked that you find yourself going along with her vision, even though there’s this nagging feeling that you’re not quite sure if it’s the direction you want to go.

Perhaps you see an exciting idea online and think “I could totally do that”. So you drop whatever you’re currently working on and fall down a rabbit hole, trying to figure out how to create this new programme.

I want to invite you to STOP right now.

I know you’re talented. I know there are many things you could do with your skills and experience. There are many ways you could help your customers. There are many collaborations that could be fun or flattering or yes, profitable.

The problem is:

If you’re constantly chasing shiny objects or being swept up in other people’s agendas, you will lose faith in the work of your heart.

  • You won’t have the time or the headspace to explore your intrinsic gifts.
  • You’ll have a zillion projects on the go, but nothing will ever seem to make it to launch.
  • Your social media messaging will be confused, because you’re constantly off on tangents.
  • Your offerings may even become so random, that it becomes difficult for potential customers to figure out what you actually do.

See why I want you to step away from those shiny objects?

I’m not saying you have to create a narrow niche and stay there forever. Your work will change and evolve, as you change and grow. What you find rewarding right now may lose its sparkle over time, and you will naturally seek a new direction.

But right now, all those shiny objects are distractions, keeping you from diving deep and owning what you really want to do.

So I want to invite you to look within. Join me for my FREE Find Your Voice Sessions – 5 days of guided journaling to reconnect with the work you’re here to do, show up boldly and call in your tribe.  We start Monday, May 22 and it’s totally free. You can sign up here.
