Does your squirrel need a cage?

Does your squirrel need a cage

When we lived in San Francisco, the huge tree in our backyard was a favourite with the squirrels. They would fly from branch to branch, dive from the fence to the tree trunk, to the picnic table, to the ‘trash can’, and back again.

Their frenetic antics offered endless entertainment to my then baby boy who loved to pull himself up at the window and watch them, bashing his pudgy toddler hands on the sill in delight.

A North American client of mine says her ideas are like squirrels.

They zip around and around in her head, full of bouncy hyper energy. One minute she is convinced they can fly and ready to take the leap. The next she gets distracted by a tender nut and all she wants to do is hunker down and forget the world

‘Please,’ she says. ‘Help me cage the squirrel’.

She knows her book idea has potential. She feels compelled to write it. Her passion for her topic is undeniable. But the trouble is, she just can’t pin her ideas down. She’s zipping off on this topic and that, unable to find the common thread that will pull it all together. Left alone with her squirrels, she wastes time, feels stuck, and loses faith in her ideas.

If ideas are ‘squirreling’ about in your brain, don’t worry, we can get it under control. We’ll build a (humane and kind!) cage for your idea squirrels, take them through a few fun exercises, test their limits, and get your Roadmap for a Book sorted.

If you know a book is in your plans for next year, now’s the time we talked.

Until 24 December, you can book your Roadmap for a Book package at 2021’s introductory price. From 1 January 2022, the price is going up, but if you book now for Q1 I’ll honour this year’s pricing. So if a book’s in your near future, let’s talk.
