Struggling to write your site? Do this first

write your website

So you’re trying to write your website. How hard could it really be? It’s just the longer you sit at your keyboard, the less the words seem to flow.

You’ve written plenty of other stuff in your career – essays, reports, papers, articles. But this is different.

You know your words will go before you, to tell the world ‘this is who I am and this is what I do.’ Yet no matter how hard you much you play with the words, it all feels so cheesy or contrived, dry or dull. Not YOU.  You get more and more frustrated and the website or product launch gets pushed back further and further.

Time and again, I see the quest for the perfect words holding entrepreneurs back from taking their big ideas to the world.

The problem is not that you can’t write.

The problem is that you’re not clear on your core message.

Your core message is the idea at the heart of your work, the one that underpins everything you do. It’s about knowing your mission or purpose, understanding how you really help your clients (which is not always the way you think you help them) and sharing the unique touch you bring to your work.

If you don’t know your core message, you’re going to have a hard time writing about your work, showing up online, or even instructing a copywriter.

You’ve got to take the time to get clear on your message, before you can take it boldly into the world. Because no one knows your business like you do.

You know what really drives you, what you care about most, what you bring to the table that no one else can bring. You get to hear what your clients’ thank you for. You get to be there – or at least hear about – their moments of triumph and joy. You have the passion, the zest, the commitment to this business.

Deep down, you know what you’re here to share.  And that’s what I want you to show your customers.

Because when they feel that depth of passion, emotion and commitment in your words, they’re drawn in. They sense an emotional connection to your work – and our emotions are what compel us to take action, to move forward, to change our situation. You’re building a relationship with your customers, before they’ve even picked up the phone.

So how do you nail your core message?

Over the years I’ve developed my signature process of getting to the heart of what you do. It’s a process I take each of my one-on-one customers through, to help you refine your core message and draw out what you know deep inside to be true, but struggle to articulate.

And now I’m offering it up to you, for FREE.
