How to get to the heart of your work

If I told you that everything you need to know about your business is already within you – would you believe me?

Your niche, your direction, your ideal business model, your ultimate dreams and goals, how to connect from the heart and yes, your passion too.

All those things that might feel foggy and muddled right now. Like you’re missing a vital piece of the puzzle. Like someone else is already doing what you want to do, and doing it so much better than you. Like you can’t find the right words to explain how you really help, so you keep selling yourself short.

The truth is, those things you feel confused about, are not really confusing you at all.

Deep down you know so much more than you think you do. You just need a little help drawing it all out.

My clients often smile in surprise at the clarity that arises from a little intuitive questioning in our 1:1 sessions. I would go so far to say that in every session, my clients discover some new truth about themselves.

Yet for some clients, the impact of that truth takes a little longer to arrive.

When I launched my online business 15 months ago, I gifted 31 women a free 30-minute Master Your Message session. We got together on Skype and dived deep into her work, her clients and her gifts. I then sent a follow up report with a personalised ‘elevator pitch’, capturing everything we had discovered about her ideal clients, pain points, niches and opportunities.

Over-delivering? Perhaps just a little… But I didn’t care. Many of those women became long-term clients, and the experience opened up new opportunities and friendships.

But what fascinates me now, over a year later, is that every so often, one of the remaining women will pop up in my inbox and say –

“At the time I didn’t really like what you had written, but when I read it through now, it feels exactly right.”

Everything in those reports ultimately came from the women themselves. I was simply reflecting back the words, the wisdom and the passion they expressed in response to my intuitive questions. Yet at the time, they couldn’t see the truth in their words.

Sometimes it takes your brain a little while to catch up with what your heart knows to be true.

Sometimes we can know something deep down, but our brain can’t quite trust it.

It could be because we’re not ready to embrace this truth.

Or perhaps we’re so foggy and caught up in our general busyness, that we just can’t hear it.

And sometimes we’re just scared to accept it. Because our calling looks too big or too scary, and that “Who am I to do this?” and “Who would ever pay me to do that?” voice cranks up in the background.

Time and again, I’ve been amazed when the words we drew out together – sometimes more than a year earlier – turn out to be exactly right for that client. It just took over a year for her head to catch up with what her heart knew all along.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

All you need is someone to help you sift through the layers, so you can access what is there in your heart. Someone to breathe new life into a voice stifled by years of playing by the rules and trotting out corporate speak and company policy. Someone who notices when you light up, who notices the pitch of your voice shift, as you move from duty to excitement, from tedium to lightness.

Together, we can accelerate that journey of discovery and save you a year or more of floundering around with irritating ideal client exercises or trying to squash yourself into a niche that doesn’t quite fit.
